The short version
BetterDDSL publishes fixtures and results for underage football. Most of what you see here — teams, dates, scores, scorers — is football information the clubs and the league already publish in public. Some of it is sent in by people who were at the game. If a name on this site is yours, or your child’s, and you would rather it were not here, email betterddsl@matchweek.ie and it will be removed.
This is not an official league site. An independent community project. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Dublin & District Schoolboys/Girls' League. Nobody at the league runs it, checks it, or is answerable for it. Where a result here differs from the league’s own, the league’s is the one that counts.
How to get your or your child’s data removed from the site and deleted
Email betterddsl@matchweek.ie, say which name, and it is removed from the site and deleted. That covers a player’s name on a fixture, in a scorer list, on a stats page, or anywhere else it appears.
Where the information here comes from
- The league’s own public pages. Fixtures, competitions, results and, where the league publishes them, scorers. Please note that neither the DDSL nor any of its clubs have authorised the use of this data, and none is claimed — it is read from pages they publish openly and republished here in reliance on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Match reports sent in by people at the game. A score, who scored, cards, a Man of the Match pick. These come from people with accounts here.
- What people put on their own account. Their name, their club, their age group.
What is held about you
- If you have an account: display name, email address, a hashed password (never the password itself), and for player accounts the club, age group and division you chose. Plus the IP address used when the account was created, kept only to stop one person making many accounts.
- What you submit: match reports, scores, scorer names, cards, Man of the Match picks, agree-taps, and anything you send through the contact or report-an-issue forms.
- A trust score — a number reflecting how often your reports matched what the community and the league’s own result settled on.
- If you are named on the site but have no account: your name, the club and age group you are recorded as playing for, and the matches and goals attached to that name.
Not held, at all: photographs (the feature was available for a short time but it was never used by a user and it has now been removed), any payment information, and any name or score for match officials, who are not recorded on this site in any form.
Children
This site is about underage football, so a great many of the people named on it are children. That is not incidental and it is treated as the most serious thing here.
- Accounts are for 16s and over. Sixteen is the digital age of consent in Ireland. Everyone signing up has to confirm they meet it before they can finish.
- A parent or guardian can have anything about their child removed — an account, a name, a goal, a whole page — by emailing betterddsl@matchweek.ie. No reason needed, no questions asked, nothing to prove.
- Nothing about a child is used for advertising, profiling, or sold to anyone. There are no advertisers and nothing is for sale on this site.
Why any of it is held, and the legal basis
Under GDPR every purpose needs a lawful basis. These are ours, purpose by purpose.
- Publishing fixtures, results and scorers — legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): a public, free record of a local league that people following it want and that nobody else provides in this form. We have weighed that against the privacy of the people named, which is why names are removed on request, immediately and without argument. If you object, that is the end of it — see Your rights.
- Running your account and the reports you submit — performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)): you asked for the service, this is the service.
- The trust system — legitimate interests: making a crowd-sourced result more reliable than the loudest voice.
- Preventing abuse (rate limits, the signup IP, login lockouts) — legitimate interests: keeping one person from flooding the site.
- Analytics — legitimate interests: finding and fixing what is broken. You can opt out; see below.
- Emails you have asked for — consent, withdrawable from any of them.
Is anything decided about you automatically?
Yes, in a small way, and you should know how it works. The score shown on a match page is calculated: each report counts for more or less depending on the trust score of whoever sent it, and the result with the most weight behind it wins. Your own trust score then moves up or down depending on whether your report matched. Nothing about this affects anyone outside this site, and no decision with a legal or similarly significant effect is made about anybody here. If you think the calculation has got something wrong, use Report an issue and a person will look at it.
How long it is kept
- Account details — for as long as the account exists. Delete the account and the personal details go immediately.
- Match reports — kept as part of the shared record after an account is deleted, but detached from the person and reassigned to “Deleted User”. Other people’s trust scores moved on the strength of those reports at the time, so removing them would rewrite other people’s records too.
- A name removed on request — gone from the site, and kept off.
- The IP address recorded at signup — for the life of the account, and cleared when the account is deleted.
- Contact messages and issue reports — until they are dealt with, and then kept for a while afterwards so a repeat request is recognised rather than treated as new. Ask and yours is deleted.
Your rights
You can, at any time, and free of charge:
- See what is held about you.
- Correct anything wrong.
- Have it erased.
- Object to anything published on the basis of legitimate interests — which is everything published about a person who has no account. An objection here is not weighed up or argued with. The name comes down.
- Restrict what is done with it while a question is being sorted out.
- Get a copy of what you submitted, in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent to any email you agreed to receive.
Deleting your own account
Any time, from the Account tab, without contacting anyone. It is immediate and permanent, and removes your name, email and password straight away. See How long it is kept above for what happens to reports you submitted.
Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, so nobody here can see or recover one. Repeated failed sign-ins lock an account temporarily. Everything is served over HTTPS. Data sits with the providers listed above under their standard security practices. This is a small site run by one person, not a company with a security team, and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise — which is another reason there is nothing here worth stealing: no payment details, no addresses, no phone numbers.

We use PostHog to find and fix errors on the site.

One functional cookie keeps you signed in. There are no advertising cookies. The analytics described above set their own cookies to recognise a returning visit.

What this is
BetterDDSL is an independent, community-run results site for DDSL fixtures. An independent community project. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Dublin & District Schoolboys/Girls' League. Results are built from reports sent in by people at the games, weighted by a trust system, and where available compared against the result the league itself publishes. It is free, there is nothing for sale on it, and nobody is paid by it or pays into it.
Who can use it
Anyone 16 or over. Player accounts should use a real name — it is how teammates recognise you and how the trust system works at all.
What you submit
Submitting a report means saying it is accurate as far as you know. Deliberately false information — invented names, joke entries, wrong scores on purpose — is not allowed and will cost you your account.
Nothing offensive, abusive, discriminatory or sexual, anywhere, including in a scorer name or a Man of the Match field. There is an automated filter and it is imperfect in both directions; tell us if it gets it wrong either way.
Photos
There are none. The feature was removed. The only image anyone can add is their own profile picture, on their own account, which they can clear at any time.
Match officials
Officials are not named, scored, ranked or recorded anywhere on this site. There used to be referee pages with a trust ranking on them; they are gone, along with the underlying data.
The trust system
Your trust score reflects how often your reports matched what was eventually settled on as the result. It exists to make a crowd-sourced score more reliable, not to rank or shame anyone.
Moderation
Any submitted content can be edited, removed or overridden, and any account suspended — most often for false information, abusive content, or misusing the reporting system.
Accuracy
The results here are what a group of people agreed on, not an official record. They are usually right and they are sometimes wrong. Nothing on this site should be used to settle anything that matters — a league position, a dispute, a disciplinary question. For those, the league’s own record is the record.
No warranty
The site is provided as is, with no guarantee that any result on it is correct.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the site develops. Continued use after a change means accepting it.

Questions & answers
98 things people ask about the league, the clubs in it, and this site. Anything that is the league’s own policy — fees, registration, discipline, playing rules — is answered as far as we can and then points you at your club, because we are not the league and would rather say so than guess.
What does KDUL stand for?
The Kildare and District Underage League — the underage football league for clubs in Kildare and the immediately surrounding area.
Is KDUL the same thing as the KDFL?
No. The KDFL is the adult Kildare and District Football League. KDUL is the separate underage league. Plenty of clubs field teams in both, which is where the confusion comes from.
What age groups does KDUL run?
Broadly from around U8 up to U18 on the boys side, with girls competitions running across a similar range. The exact set of age groups changes season to season depending on how many teams enter.
Does KDUL have girls leagues?
Yes — there are girls competitions right across the age groups, with their own cup and shield competitions. They sit alongside everything else in the fixtures on this site.
When does the KDUL season start?
Underage football here runs on the football season rather than the calendar year, so fixtures generally begin in late summer or early autumn.
When does the KDUL season finish?
League fixtures usually run through to spring, with cup and shield competitions finishing out the season after that. Cup finals are typically the last thing played.
Who runs KDUL?
A volunteer committee drawn from the member clubs. It is not run by the FAI directly, and it is not run by anyone connected to this site.
Is KDUL affiliated to the FAI?
KDUL sits within the affiliated league structure under the Leinster Football Association, which is part of the FAI. Anything turning on affiliation status is worth confirming with the league itself.
How many clubs are in KDUL?
Well over twenty clubs enter teams, and the number moves year to year. Every club with a fixture this season appears in the Fixtures tab, and that list is always the current one.
What clubs play in KDUL?
Rather than keep a list here that goes stale, open Fixtures and pick an age group — every club fielding a team is there. You can also type a club name into the search icon in the header to jump straight to it.
What divisions does KDUL run?
In the older age groups you will see Premier at the top, then Major and numbered Major divisions below it. In the youngest age groups, teams are grouped by colour rather than ranked.
Why are the youngest age groups colours instead of Premier and Major?
Because they are not meant to be ranked. Grouping the youngest teams by colour keeps it about playing rather than about where you finish.
Are league tables published for U8 to U11?
The youngest age groups are played on a non-competitive basis, so tables are not the point at that level. Where the league does not publish a table, this site does not invent one.
What is a twin group?
A way of splitting a large entry at the youngest age groups into two parallel groups, so every team gets a regular game instead of one oversized division.
What is the difference between a Cup, a Shield and a Plate?
They are knockout competitions run alongside the league. The Cup is the main one; Shield and Plate give teams knocked out early another run rather than an empty second half of the season.
How does promotion and relegation work in KDUL?
Divisions are regraded between seasons based on where teams finished, but the committee has discretion — entries, withdrawals and team numbers all feed into the final shape. Your club secretary will know what happened to your team.
What is the Kennedy Cup?
The SFAI Kennedy Cup is the national inter-league competition for boys at U14. Leagues enter a representative squad selected from their member clubs, so it sits a level above club football.
What is the Gaynor Cup?
The SFAI Gaynor Cup is the girls national inter-league competition, run along the same lines as the Kennedy Cup.
How do I get my child playing in KDUL?
You join a club, not the league. Find your nearest member club, contact them about the relevant age group, and they handle registration into the league.
How much does it cost to play?
Each club sets its own annual subscription, so it varies. Most clubs would rather talk about the fee than lose a player over it — ask.
Where do KDUL fixtures officially come from?
The league publishes its fixtures and results through its own platform. This site reads what is published there and adds community reporting on top. The league's own platform is always the official record.
What is Comortais?
The fixtures and results system the league publishes through. If you have seen the official fixture list on a plain page with the scores not filled in yet, that is what you were looking at.
Does KDUL have an official app?
No. BetterKdul is an independent community site, not an official league product — see the Terms section above.
Who do I contact about a league decision?
The league committee, through your club. Clubs have a designated secretary whose job includes exactly this, and a query routed that way gets taken seriously in a way an email from an individual parent often does not.
How do I join a KDUL club?
Contact the club directly. Most have a Facebook page or a club email, and most run open sign-up evenings before the season starts. You register with the club and they enter you with the league.
What is the difference between a club and a team?
A club is the organisation; a team is one squad it enters into one age group and division. A single club can enter several teams at the same age group.
Why does one club have an A team and a B team at the same age?
Because they had enough players for two squads. The A and B split is usually about giving everyone a game at a level that suits them, not a permanent ranking.
What do the colour names after a club mean, like red, black or white?
They are how a club labels multiple teams in the same age group — the same idea as A and B, using club colours instead. They are not separate clubs.
Can my child play for a club outside our town?
Generally yes. Clubs are not zoned by address the way schools are, so travel and training times usually decide it rather than any rule.
Can a player play for two clubs in the same season?
No. A player is registered to one club for the season. Turning out for a second club without a completed transfer is what gets results overturned.
How does a transfer between clubs work?
It goes through both clubs and the league rather than being arranged between parents, and there are windows and paperwork. Start it early, and start with your current club secretary.
Can a player play up an age group?
Playing up is usually possible with the right permissions; playing down almost never is. The specifics are league policy and your club will know the current position.
What is a club secretary and why does everything go through them?
They are the club official registered with the league. Routing registrations, transfers and queries through one named person is what stops things getting lost, so it is not bureaucracy for its own sake.
Do underage coaches need to be Garda vetted?
Anyone in a position of responsibility with children in Irish sport is expected to be vetted and safeguarding-trained. If you are unsure about a specific club, ask them — a good club answers without getting defensive.
What is a club children's officer?
The person at a club responsible for child welfare and safeguarding. Every club should have one, and their name should be available on request.
Where does a club play its home games?
Club grounds are listed on each club page here where somebody has added them. If yours is missing or wrong, any signed-in user can correct it on the club page.
How do I find out where an away match is?
The venue is on the match page where the league has published one. If it is blank, the home club is the fastest source — venues change more often than fixture lists get updated.
What kit does my child need?
The club provides or specifies the playing kit. Boots, shin guards and a full water bottle are on you, and shin guards are not optional at any age group.
Do clubs guarantee game time?
At the youngest age groups the expectation is that everyone gets a meaningful share. That loosens as teams get older and more competitive. Asking a coach what their approach is, before the season, is a fair question.
What happens if my child wants to stop playing?
Tell the coach rather than just stopping turning up, so squad numbers are known. Most clubs will hold a place if it is a break rather than a quit.
Are clubs allowed to charge match fees on top of the subscription?
Some do and some do not. Either way it should be told to you at sign-up rather than appearing mid-season, so ask.
How do I volunteer or coach at a club?
Ask. Every underage club in the country is short of adults. Expect to complete Garda vetting and a basic safeguarding course before you take a session.
What do I do if I have a problem with a coach?
Raise it with the club first, in writing, through the secretary. If it concerns child welfare, the club children’s officer is the right first contact.
Can a club be fined or have points deducted?
Yes — for things like fielding an ineligible player, walkovers, or disciplinary breaches. Any deduction is a league decision, and the table here reflects it once it is applied to the published table.
What is a walkover?
A match awarded to one team because the other could not fulfil the fixture. It counts as a result but it is not a game anybody wanted.
Why is a team listed as Bye or Idle in the fixtures?
An odd number of teams in a group means one sits out that round. It is a scheduling artefact, not a real fixture.
Does my club have to do anything for BetterKdul to work?
No. Every club and fixture is already here from the published league data. Clubs do not sign up, pay, or opt in.
Who appoints match officials?
The league does. Clubs do not pick their own official. This site has nothing to do with appointments and does not name, rate or rank officials.
What happens if no official turns up?
Normally the game goes ahead with an agreed volunteer rather than being abandoned, and the league is told. What that means for the result is a league decision, not ours.
Can I complain about a match official?
Complaints go through your club to the league. Not to the official, and not to this site — we hold nothing about match officials at all.
How are league points awarded?
Three for a win, one for a draw, none for a loss. That is what the tables on this site calculate from.
How are teams level on points separated?
The table here orders by points, then goal difference. Where the league applies a different or additional tiebreak for final placings, the league table is the one that counts.
What time do underage matches usually kick off?
Weekend mornings and early afternoons for most age groups, with older groups sometimes later or midweek. The published kick-off time is on the match page.
How long is a match at each age group?
Match length steps up with age, from short small-sided games at the youngest groups to full-length games in the older ones. The exact durations are set out in the league rules.
What is small-sided football?
Fewer players on a smaller pitch with smaller goals, used at younger ages so every child gets far more touches of the ball than an eleven-a-side game would give them.
Is there offside at the youngest age groups?
Small-sided formats usually simplify or drop it. The rules for each age group are set by the league rather than by this site.
What happens when a match is postponed?
It gets rescheduled by the league and reappears in the fixtures with a new date. Here, the old date simply stops showing a result.
Who decides if a pitch is playable?
The home club and the match official. In bad weather, check with the club before travelling — a call-off can happen on the morning.
When does a result become official?
When the league publishes it. What you see here before that is a community-verified result, which is usually right and occasionally is not.
Why is a score here different to the official one?
Because they come from different places. This site settles a score from community reports well before official publication, so the two can differ briefly. Where they disagree the league is right — flag it with Report an issue and it gets corrected.
Are yellow and red cards tracked?
Cards submitted in community reports are counted and shown in the leaderboards for each division. That is a community record, not the league disciplinary record.
Do suspensions carry across competitions?
Disciplinary sanctions are a league matter and are not tracked on this site at all. Your club is notified of any suspension.
Can I upload photos from a match?
No. Match photos were removed — a results site used by children should not be publishing pictures of them. The only image anyone can add now is their own profile picture on their own account.
What is BetterKdul?
A free, independent site that shows every KDUL fixture and builds the result from reports submitted by the people who were actually there.
Is BetterKdul official?
No. It is an independent community project — not run by KDUL, not endorsed by KDUL, and not an official league product. It reads the match data the league publishes publicly and is not connected to the league in any way.
Is BetterKdul free?
Yes, for everyone, permanently. There are no sponsors, no adverts and no paid tier. It costs very little to run and it is not a business.
Do I need an account to use it?
That depends on the mode the site is in. When it is open, fixtures, results and tables are readable without signing in; an account is only needed to submit a report. At times the whole site is members-only and you will be asked to sign in or create an account first.
How does a result get confirmed?
Reports from different people are weighted by how accurate that person has been before, then combined. Once there is enough weighted agreement the result shows as Confirmed, and it locks as Settled 24 hours after kick-off.
What is a trust score?
A number reflecting how often your reports have matched what everyone eventually settled on. Report accurately and your reports carry more weight over time.
Who can submit a match report?
Players from either of the two clubs, and fans who follow one of them — so a parent on the sideline can put the score in. A player's report carries more weight than a fan's, and everyone's weight moves with how often they turn out to be right.
Can one person just make up a scoreline?
They can submit one, but a single report against the weight of everyone else settles nothing, and being wrong lowers what their next report is worth. The system assumes some people will try.
What does Settled mean?
The result locks 24 hours after kick-off and stops changing with new reports. If a settled result is wrong, use Report an issue.
What does "No score yet" mean?
Nobody has reported that match yet, or not enough people have for it to confirm. It does not mean the match was not played.
How do I report a score?
Open the match, sign in, and fill in the report — score, scorers, cards and your man of the match pick. It takes under a minute.
Does my man of the match pick affect anyone's trust score?
No. Man of the match is treated as an opinion, never as a fact, so it never affects trust. Scores, scorers and cards do.
I spotted a wrong result — what do I do?
Use Report an issue on that match page. You do not need an account, and it goes to a review queue rather than into a void.
How do I find a player?
Tap the search icon in the header and type the name. Players can be found by their real name or by any nickname they have added.
What is on a player page?
Goals, cards, man of the match awards and the matches they have featured in, built up from community reports across the season.
Why is my name not showing goals I scored?
Usually because reports spelled it differently. Add the spelling people actually use as a nickname on your account, and matching picks it up.
What are nicknames for?
So a goal reported under the name everyone actually calls you still lands on your profile. You can add up to five, and they show publicly on your page.
Can I add a nickname that is somebody else's name?
No. Nicknames matching another registered player's real name are rejected, for obvious reasons.
How are the league tables here calculated?
From results that have confirmed or settled on this site, three points for a win and one for a draw, ordered by points then goal difference.
Why does the table here not match the official one?
Tables here are built from community results, so they can run ahead of official publication and can occasionally differ. The league table is the official one.
Do you rank or rate match officials?
No. There used to be referee pages with a trust-based ranking on them. They are gone: no official is named, scored, ranked or stored anywhere on this site, and nothing brings them back.
Is there a news section?
Yes. The News tab carries articles and notices grouped by day, and the ticker at the top of every page carries the short ones.
Does BetterKdul cover other leagues?
Not yet. It is KDUL only for now.
Can I use BetterKdul on my phone?
Yes. It is built for phones first, and you can add it to your home screen from your browser share menu.
Is there a dark mode?
Yes — the moon icon in the header, and it remembers your choice on that device.
How do I share a result?
The Share button on a match page produces a card with the score and both teams on it, ready to drop into a group chat.
Who do I contact about the site itself?
Use the contact form on the Support page, or email betterkdul@gmail.com.
My child is under 16 — can they have an account?
Accounts are for 16s and over. The digital age of consent in Ireland is 16, and everyone signing up has to confirm they meet it. We have no way to verify anyone's age, so if your child has an account you did not agree to, email betterkdul@gmail.com and it will be removed along with anything attached to it.
I think my child signed up without me knowing.
Email betterkdul@gmail.com and the account and its data are removed. No argument, no process to work through.
Are children's full names shown publicly?
Player names appear as they do in team sheets and match reports, which is the same information already published in league fixtures. Fan accounts are deliberately not searchable and have no public profile.
Can anyone see who submitted a report?
No. Individual reports are not shown publicly — only the combined result is. Admins can see the underlying reports for moderation.
What stops abusive content being submitted?
An automated filter on every free-text field, plus admin review and the ability to remove content and accounts. The filter is not perfect in either direction, so tell us if it gets one wrong.
What does BetterKdul do with my email address?
Signs you in, verifies the account, and nothing else. It is never shown to other users, and never sold or shared.
How do I delete my account?
From the Account tab, any time, no email needed. Personal details go immediately; the data retention answer in the privacy section covers what happens to reports you submitted.
Does BetterKdul use tracking or advertising cookies?
No advertising cookies, no advertisers, and nothing about you is sold to anybody. Analytics and session recording are used to find bugs — the privacy section above sets out exactly what that covers.
